This piece consists of a mixture of acrylic paint both neat and watered down, combined with watercolour pencils, colour pencils and fineliner pens. A sheet of acrylic paper is spray mounted to wood board and then worked onto. In this piece the elephant was painted first, with the surrounding white paper space painted afterward with white acrylic. This order of process allows the elephant to be consumed by the emptiness it is surrounded by. Media: Acrylic, watercolour pencil and black fineliner. Dimensions: 17.2in x 13.15in
Giraffe (2016)
In the same style as 'Elephant' I worked with paper on wood board (for this piece I worked with glue instead of spray mount to experiment with which would be most effective long term). The paper has started to raise and bubble so I will be re-creating this piece. Contrasting to 'Elephant, i painted the paper with white acrylic first around the pencil outline of the giraffe. I then panted the giraffe after this, which pulls the giraffe out of the white emptiness rather than surrounding it. Media: Acrylic neat and watered down, watercolour pencil and black fineliner. Dimensions: 17.2in x 13.6in
Penguin (2016)
This piece consists of acrylic paint on MDF board. The use of the MDF as it is was used to create a more natural tone for the background of the piece, and I selected the penguin to paint onto this piece of MDF as it's size in relation to the painted area lessens the space around it drawing focus to the penguin. Media: Acrylic. Dimensions: 17.2in x 10in
Flamingo (2016)
Media: Acrylic with finishing touches of black fineliner. Dimensions: 17.2in x 4.3in
Harambe portrait (2016)
Media: Acrylic with some watercolour pencil. Dimensions:
Harambe (2017)
Use of head only, focusing eye contact and connection between sitter and viewer. Media: Acrylic with some watercolour pencil, and finishing touches of black fineliner. Dimensions: 17in x 21in
FULL BODY PORTRAIT (2017)
Following a head only piece I experimented with the effect that a full body piece would have when surrounded by emptiness. Media: Acrylic paint with watercolour pencil. Dimensions: 17in x 21in
